PRSG trains and pairs one community member with one client family. These one-on-one relationships are used to provide refugee clients a safe place for any questions, assistance acclimating to everyday life, and a trust-driven friendship in the city.
Volunteer-Refugee Connection

To ensure that the relationships between volunteers and refugee clients work seamlessly, PRSG has an excellent training program for community members. This training involves educating volunteers on cultural sensitivities alongside providing technical knowledge about the practical side of helping refugees. Community members learn about the refugee crises, their current living conditions, daily struggles, and cultural norms. The trainees are also given a clear idea of what to expect in terms of their relationship with the refugee clients and how to maintain healthy boundaries while still being supportive.

Once the training is complete, PRSG pairs the community member with a refugee client family. This pairing is based on various criteria such as gender, marital status, and any specific requests from clients or volunteers, to ensure that the relationship is supportive and effective. This approach enables the refugee clients to have a safe space to ask questions, seek help with their daily living, and learn about the culture of their new home.
The one-on-one pairing of community members with refugee client families has proven to be an effective strategy for PRSG. By providing a trust-driven friendship in a community member, the refugee clients receive a foundation of support that is instrumental in the acclimation process. The carefully selected and trained volunteers are the backbone of this program and serve as invaluable supporters and guides.
